Rosenzweig, Yosef (Pico)


Son of Rosa and Moshe Aharon, was born on the 21st of Av,
August 1, 1926, in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. During the War of Independence he served as the first corporal in one of the Palmach battalions in the Harel Brigade, and participated in escorting convoys, during Operation Nachshon, breaking into the Old City, in battles in Jerusalem. He was wounded in the line of battle, and was taken to the hospital in Haifa, where he died of his wounds on 8 Adar 5709 (9.3.1949). Yosef was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
