Rosenman (Ornan), Jonathan

Yehonatan, the son of Ahuva and Asher, was born on 5.11.1952 in Hadar Am in Emek Hefer. The name Yehonatan was given to him as a kind of complement to his brother David, and indeed he loved his brother with great love. His childhood passed between fields, orchards and expanses, which left their mark on his personality. For hours he wandered through the fields and at night he looked at the stars, for there was no limit to his love of nature. When he joined his brother David at the agricultural yeshiva in Kfar Haroeh, a rabbi from the yeshiva told him: “I remember very well the years in which Johannathan was my student. As a student he was smart and intelligent. He investigated, deepened, and demanded that every problem be completely solved. He liked to put his teachers on trial, and when they crossed the tribe of his tribe, he accepted their authority, cooperated, and helped promote their studies. Jonathan was the kind of student who smartened their rabbi. As an apprentice he was introverted. A sense of responsibility, of gravity, of seeking justice was in it. He broke off all burden. He was very rebellious, but when he did, he always believed that he was right. So it was hard to be angry with him. Yehonatan knew what he wanted and went his own way. “The combined studies – both theoretical and agricultural – did appeal to Jonathan, but they could not give him as much horizons as he wanted, so he moved to Bnei Akiva in Netanya. He was able to overcome the obstacles and devoted most of his time to his favorite subjects: Jonathan was always faithful to himself and to his beliefs, and when the rabbi offered him his help in the exam that was difficult for him, he refused to accept the help and said, “The exam is also my test of truth.” And insisted stubbornly when he believed in her righteousness.Jonathan was a boy with very strong views, he admired life in nature, “When he was young, he was a member of the Bnei Akiva youth movement, studied painting, and expressed his worldview when he built a monument made of scrap, and the idea of the monument was that the work of the land stood at the top Jonathan was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1971. He wanted to realize the idea of pioneering, which had affected him since childhood. In the Yom Kippur War he fought against the Syrians on the northern front On October 10, 1973, in one of the most difficult containment battles in the Tel Aviv area, Yoshifon was injured in his tank and Jonathan was wounded and taken to the hospital in Rosh Pina, leaving behind a father, mother, three sisters and two brothers, who was promoted to the rank of sergeant, Jonathan was a dedicated and loyal soldier. He was loved by his friends and commanders alike. “
