Rosenblatt, Yair
Yair, son of Penina (nee Tovolski) and Yitzhak Rosenblatt, was born in 1925, in Kibbutz Ein Harod. In June 1947, he enlisted in the Palmach, took a commanding officer course, and at the beginning of the winter of 1948 he was sent with a small group of Palmach men to work at the Haifa port. They were ordered to guard the hidden weapons they held in the port area under the noses of the British police. He participated in escorting convoys to Jerusalem, conquering most of the villages on the way to Jerusalem, conquering Katamon and breaking into Mount Zion and the Old City. On the 9th of Tammuz (16 July 1948), he fell. After his fall, he was awarded the rank of First Lieutenant. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Ein Harod. His memory was included in the “Banim” memorial Ein Harod published in memory of its fallen soldiers.
