Rog, Israel

Son of Feiga and King, was born on 18.10.1927 in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. He completed five elementary school classes, and later worked as a shoemaker. He was a member of Hashomer Hatzair and was active in Zionist and organizational activities in his movement. Israel was one of the surviving survivors of the horrors of World War and the Holocaust. After the Nazi extermination, he found his way to the DP camps in the “Bericha-Bericha” route to Zion. In the camps in Austria and Italy he took a Haganah course for a year and then trained and guided others. On his way to Israel he was caught and deported to Cyprus, where he continued to engage in training and training activities. Shortly after the declaration of the state, he succeeded in escaping from the camp in Cyprus and arriving in Israel. He immediately enlisted and served in the 7th Brigade. He participated in Operation son of-Nun Bet, the second attack on the Latrun Legion in order to break through the road to Jerusalem. There was a force that broke into the Latrun police court but encountered heavy fire, suffered casualties and was forced to retreat. In this battle, on May 30, 1948, he fell ten days after arriving in Israel. On the 17th of Cheshvan 5710 (17.11.1949) he was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
