Reichman, Gad (Gadi)
Gad (Gadi), son of Gerda and Alfred, was born on August 14, 1951 in Tel Aviv. Gad enlisted in the IDF in mid-May 1969 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, after he managed to conceal from the enlistment officer the history of his illness, and after completing a tank training course he was assigned to a tank unit as a contact-loader. Was active in a number of daring operations and received a commendation from the OC Northern Command for his part in one of the operations in the Har Dov region, and was awarded the “Operational Service Mark.” Towards the end of his service, And was stationed in a reserve unit of the Civil Defense, and later began working in the garage as a mechanic and a tractor operator When the Yom Kippur War broke out, he stood with his car in one of the armored units in the north and offered his help, but his volunteering was rejected, but he did not give in, went after the fighting forces and tried to help as much as possible. In the battle that took place on the 8th of Tishrei 5734 (October 8, 1973), Gadi rescued the commander of the wounded tank, ran to bring some bandages and was hit and killed. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and two brothers. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. After four years of suffering, his father ended his life in the military cemetery near his son’s grave.
