Pnini, Liron
Son of Ruth and Gideon. He was born on the 20th of Cheshvan 5762 (20.11.1965) in Moshav Avihail. He was a handsome boy. Naughty, with an impressive appearance and a good friend. Liron, like his name: Always Simcha, smiling and optimistic. He graduated from the Ruppin Regional School in Emek Hefer. He completed his studies in the twelfth grade with an academic matriculation certificate, and Liron’s career was characterized by ludicrousness, joy, and fun, and in early 1984 he was drafted into the IDF. He began his career as a soldier in the Golani Brigade. After the training course, which included security activities in Lebanon, Liron was sent to a course for intelligence officers, and at the end of his service, he was stationed in his battalion, the Barak Battalion, and the sharp eye of his commanders caught him immediately and was sent to officers’ course. The course was sent to the Northern Command and soon became a prominent figure, guarding the rights of the soldiers, keeping their duties, organized and working tirelessly day and night, few managing to mix human warmth with this work behind the scenes. With Liron carrying hundreds of people on his shoulders, and there was no complaint On Thursday, November 25, 1987, Liron fell in a battle in the north. A terrorist who came from Lebanon, burst into brigade headquarters, opened fire and threw grenades. Liron was one of the victims of this attack. He was buried in the military section of the Moshav Avihail cemetery. Survived by his parents, brother and sister – Nitzan and Raz. “He will be remembered as the leader of the clowns and the tricks, the girls’ darling, with the annoying eyes,” his mother wrote. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “In ancient trees, you notice age by rings, each ring is a year that has left its mark on the race, there are signs of years of drought and years of good. An island of humanity that has been shattered and drowned in the sea of terror. The Minister of Defense sent a letter expressing his condolences to the family. The Jewish student organization in Rome planted a tree in his memory.
