Peretz, Massoud
Masoud, son of Sa’ada and Joseph, was born in 1944 in Casablanca, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel with his family. He attended the “Even Shmuel” elementary school and continued his studies at the State Religious High School in Shapir. Masoud was a sports fan, founded the soccer team of Maccabi Ahuzam and the Hapoel team in the moshav. After that he founded the tennis-table team. Masoud was drafted into the IDF in mid-May 1959 and volunteered for the Armored Corps.
After completing basic training, he was trained for reserve duty and spent many weeks on the banks of the Suez Canal during the War of Attrition and was awarded the ” The symbol of the Six-Day War. “After the liberation, he joined the moshav of Ahuzam in the Lachish region, where he established a magnificent farm and raised mainly industrial crops intended for export, and was very active in the moshav’s life. Many factories – the canalization network in the moshav, the clinic building, the nursery and other activities intended for it He served as a member of the board of directors of the moshav and at one time served as the chairman of the board, and at that time he planned a special program to attract new members to the moshav. Masoud was a sincere and honest man, accepted by all his acquaintances and loved by them, and he was willing, helpful kind and generous, and was happy to help anyone that needed him. He easily became friends with everyone and was a smiling and cheerful man. He had never quarreled with anyone, and he had always sought compromise, he alwase tryed to make peace betwen his friends. During the Yom Kippur War, Massoud was recruited and fought with his unit in battles against the Syrians on the Golan Heights. On the 9th of Tishrei 5734 (October 9, 1973) he fell in battle at Tel Fares. He was brought to rest at the cemetery on Mount Herzl and left behind a wife, a father, four brothers and three sisters, and was raised to the rank of sergeant
