Gedalyahu, son of Rachel and Moshe, was born on February 7, 1932, in the city of Poltosk, Poland When he was seven years old, World War II broke out and the family fled to Russia with the influx of refugees, The mother and her four children continued to wander on the Russian steppes, and after a few years in Russia, Gedalyahu joined the Youth Aliya and came to France with it. As it is known, the illegal immigrants to Israel were forbidden to enter the country, and he was returned to Germany. In May 1948, he returned to Israel, and he was sixteen years old. When he set foot on the ground, he volunteered for the Harel Brigade, which fought bitter battles on the way to Jerusalem. When it became clear to the brigade commander that the fighting young man was only 16 years old, they immediately transferred him to Kibbutz Heftzi-Bah, where his comrades from Youth Aliyah were found. He was well absorbed and loved the kibbutz very much. As usual, he devoted himself entirely to farming. Because of the events that had taken place in his youth, his studies were irregular. He had studied a little in an elementary school in Russia and had managed to study for a year in a high school in France-and this, too, under the pressure of the riots and the bombing fire Gedalyahu was drafted into the IDF in 1950, and as a member of the Youth Aliya, he served in the Nahal Brigade. In 1952, when he returned to civilian life, he left the farm to help his family, who immigrated to Israel at the time and moved to Tel Aviv, where he worked as a member of the Dan cooperative. During that period, he married his girlfriend Leah, and eventually they had three sons – Adi, Eran, and Ofer – For about five years he worked for Dan and was diligent and devoted to his work. “The passengers of Kav 22, residents of Hadar Yossef and Maoz Aviv, have not grown used to seeing the favorite and the most important driver of the line,” he says, “but the burden of war is limited to the moment they board the bus. : Gedalyahu is gone. ” Gedaliah was a devoted husband and an exemplary father. All his attention was to the other, the laughing girl on his face always accompanied him wherever he went. He always met his friends with a pat on the shoulder, was interested and worried, glad of the joy of others and hurt his pain. His concern for his family became known. Precisely because he lost so much in his youth that he aspired to give his children a higher education and all the luxuries in the world. Gedalyahu was an avowed patriot, and especially loved the landscapes of the country he knew the landscapes as he knew the palm of his hand. There was no marching that he did not take part in it, there was no chance he missed when he could take all the members of the family for trips, sports or fishing. As a member of Dan’s volleyball team, he stood out in the spirit of his team and was also impressed with his friends.
and served as an ambulance driver on the northern front on October 10, 1973, “Gedaliah did his best to rescue the vehicle from the danger zone and ensure the lives of the injured, but he himself was injured and fell, and he was brought to rest in the military section Of the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left behind a wife and three sons, parents and three brothers. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant.
