Ovadia, Nissim


Was born in 1913 in the city of Adirana (Adrianople), Turkey, where he studied in the “Hadar” and at a young age he went to work, and from his youth he aspired to Zion. Nissim immigrated in 1935. Nissim lived in Tel Aviv with his family, he earned a living as a driver and a mechanic took care of his family as much as he could. He had many friends. Nissim was drafted into the War of Independence in 1948 and was injured in a road accident and spent six days hovering unconsciously between life and death. On the 28th of Elul 5708 (October 2, 1948) he died of his wounds and was laid to rest at the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery, where he left a wife, Rivka, and two children, a boy and a girl.
