Ovadia, Ben-Zion

Ovadia, Ben-Zion

Son of Yehuda and Miriam. He was born on 17 June 1936 in Tel Aviv. He graduated from the “Branch of Life” elementary school in Jerusalem. His devotion and loyalty to his parents brought him to the point that he began working to help them and for four years was employed by the Bialik Institute. But when he was thirsty he did not leave his studies. He continued with them in an Arab high school until he completed his studies in 1955. Throughout his life, he aspired to the teaching profession, because he felt that he would not only be able to impart to others, but also to give his soul and his love to children and youth – and the hour of fitness was not long in coming: he was awarded a scholarship and was accepted at the David Yellin Teachers’ Seminary in Beit Hakerem. He spent two years in the beit midrash with diligence and diligence and achieved many achievements – and he became fond of his teachers and friends. During his training in teaching, he taught at a school in one of the immigrant communities in the Galilee, and at the same time discovered his talents in teaching, as the love and admiration that the children felt would indicate to him. After completing his studies at the Teachers’ College in July 1957, he was awarded the title of teacher in Israel, where he took his life, was drafted into the IDF, but a few days later, on the 19th of Elul 5707 (19.9.1957) Was brought to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem
