Ottolenghi, Yiftach

Ben Roth and Michael. He was born on May 14, 1971 in Jerusalem. Was a sick baby who lost his weight every day, so when he grew up to be tall and extraordinarily strong, he was always amazed by those around him. He learned a little and was very fond of his studies at the Agron elementary school, and continued his studies at the university’s high school. In those days he met his love for Keren and his friends, with whom he spent his precious hours until his last day. Led by Yiftach, the days of their youth were spent touring the Jerusalem Cinematheque as part of a tour group, playing on the stage of the Middle East, documenting their lives in front of a video camera, in pubs where 8mm films were screened, under the slogan: “Let us have something to tell our grandchildren “And Nimrod, Yiftach’s best friend, said:” Yiftach will also live life to its fullest and also look at how it lives with complete awareness. “And these films, without the need for mediating evidence, tell of his magic, which can not be grasped, , Who has a great stage presence and talent, charismatic, admired by his friends, loved and hated by the girls, despite the arrogance, self-confidence and sense of humor, The limits of good heart, was a sensitive man, who kept his inner world – his ultimate truth – himself. In late July 1989 was drafted into the army and volunteered to open pilot courses. After a few months he retired from the course and volunteered for the Paratroopers Brigade. Yiftach took a quick course in the brigade, a squad commanders’ course, a course for explosive devices and an officer’s course. He was considered one of the best fighters and commanders that the unit knew. Soldiers loved him as a commander, and appreciated the seriousness with which he operated. Everything is closed to the last detail. In the army he dealt extensively with the question of what the system / world was and what it contained. And in his letters he wrote: “Even though I have four hours of sleep a night, I make sure to read at least two pages before going to sleep, to keep my sanity.” He had a lot of criticism and his eyes were always open to what was going on around him, and with the help of those two he carried out his duties and commanded his soldiers. Everything he did was accompanied by the added value of a observing person. The army became more serious and the youthful playfulness and irresponsibility gave way to attention to detail, to thoroughness, and to ensuring that things were done and tested to the last detail. On May 20, 1992, Lieutenant Yiftach Ottolenghi was killed in the course of his duties in a summer training accident of the Paratroopers Brigade. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He left behind his parents, brother Yotam, sister Tirza, a friend, Keren and friends, who do not really know what to do with all the videos that were intended for the grandchildren.
