Itzik loved the army and invested all his energy in it, working nights and days, fulfilling his duties with honors and winning the high esteem of his superiors, after serving for a while in a workshop near Haifa, Was transferred to the Golan Heights as a technical officer in a regional workshop and commander of the armored combat vehicle division, during which he was awarded the “Operational Service Mark.” On April 22, 1973, Lieutenant Ignatz fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. His commander, who later fell in the Yom Kippur War, wrote in a letter of condolence to the family: “Itzik arrived at our unit only a short time ago, and he did not know how to achieve his achievements.
