Ohana, Nathan

Nathan, son of Tova and Joseph, was born on the 16th of Sivan 5714 (16.6.1954) in Tel Aviv. He studied at the “Druyanov” elementary school in the Florentine neighborhood and studied at the Amal vocational high school in Tel Aviv. Nathan was an avid soccer fan, practiced at Hapoel Tel Aviv and often, his parents say, would run away from his studies to satisfy his passion for football. In his spare time, he helped his older brother run the printing press, and according to the brother’s testimony, he could have left the office when he went to reserve duty – he was so thorough and responsible in his work. Nathan was full of joy and grace. His friends saw him as a captivating leader and friend, and all his family loved to joke with him. He could make a holiday feel. It was neat and clean to the point of undue rigidity. More than once, during his army service, he would summon his father to bring him a clean, ironed suit. “Nathan was too sensitive and honest.” When he encountered rudeness, he was alone with himself and crying, trying to explain to him that this was life, and that sometimes he had to harden his Lev and overcome obstacles, but Nathan, who was kind and hard-pressed to accept their rudeness and lack The consideration of others. ” Nathan was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-May 1972 and assigned to the Artillery Corps, where he underwent an advanced artillery training course and a naval artillery course. In the Yom Kippur War, Nathan fought on the Golan Heights front. On October 7, 1973, when enemy tanks attacked his artillery battery, Nathan was injured and fell. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents, brother and two sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal. In a letter of condolence sent to the family, his commander wrote: “Nathan fought valiantly, and he fulfilled his duty with devotion, passion and concentration, and Nathan was loved and accepted by his friends and commanders alike.”
