Ohana, Eli


Son of Rachel and Hananiah. Born on October 22, 1968 in Kiryat Shmona, at the age of three, he was orphaned from his father, attended the Yavneh elementary school in the city and continued his studies at the youth center in the carpentry course. “I do not know how we will go abroad without you.” Your love for the band, your friends and the folk dances will be a model and will serve as a guiding light for us, “he said. Eli excelled in sports and won the table tennis championship for the north. He loved animals and raised them. Was a beloved son of his family and knew how to give love and expression. Eli enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces in August 1987 and was assigned to serve in the ‘Orev’ unit of the Golani Brigade, where he served as a truck driver on July 19, 1988. He was laid to rest in the Kiryat Shmona cemetery. Survived by a mother, two sisters and eight brothers. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the company’s deputy commander wrote that Eli was a diligent and loyal soldier who performed tasks perfectly and flawlessly, with a smile always on his face and a readiness and a constant response. His mere presence made his friends feel good. The Youth Center High School issued a booklet in his memory. The family commemorated him by writing Torah scrolls in the synagogue. His younger brother, Nissan, who was closest to him and loved him with all his might, wrote a biography of him in his memory, and he is currently editing and producing a documentary film about Eli’s life story and the close and special relationship between them.
