Notty, Zev (Wolf)


Son of Keila and David, was born on 25.10.1948 in Romania. When he was two, his parents separated. In 1952, at the age of four, he immigrated to Israel with his mother. The mother had no relatives in Israel and she lived with her son in distress, in a rented apartment they received from the Jewish Agency in Kiryat Ata. Ze’ev began his elementary studies at the “Lohamei Hagetaot” school in Kiryat Ata, and after four years moved to the “Atzma’ut” school. He completed his junior high school and continued to study in the “Amal” school, in the mechanics of motor mechanics. He completed two years of study at the vocational school and began working in garages in Haifa in order to support himself and his mother. In November 1966, he joined the IDF and was assigned to serve as a mechanic in the Navy, and was sent to advanced professional courses as a mechanic, truck driver and instructor. After ten months he received the rank of sergeant. The opinion of his commanders was that he was “excellent in his duties, a good professional, dedicated to his work and a great contributor to raising the level of maintenance of the vehicles in his unit. In November 1969 he volunteered to serve in the regular army. A year later he was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and in 1971 was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel. His commanders recommended that he be promoted to the position: “He is a disciplined, responsible, orderly soldier who can be advanced in mechanics. Ze’ev was sent to an advanced course of a mechanic-car. After completing the course, he was promoted to the rank of master sergeant and was in charge of a naval workshop in Haifa, where he was eager to complete his high school education and successfully completed a general training course at the military school. Died on March 14, 1985. He died at the age of 36. He left behind a wife, three daughters and a mother, and was laid to rest in the military section of the Kiryat Ata cemetery.
