Nitzan (Cincinnitus), Ron


Son of Chaya and Eliyahu. Ron (Roni) was born in Tel Aviv on February 15, 1948, a brother to Nir. He grew up in Tel Aviv and studied at the Kalir School and the Renanim High School. Roni served in the Transportation Corps. Soon he became a kind of unofficial education officer for his unit. He organized parties in the unit, established a choir and a unit orchestra, and more. After his discharge from the IDF, he worked for a short period in the Military Industries, and did not find his place in IMI, as his associates put it, and was frustrated by his work until a friend persuaded him to join the Israel Prison Service. In 1971, Roni joined the Israel Prison Service. At first he served as a social counselor at Hasharon Prison (then called Tel Mond), and shortly after completing an officers’ course, he was appointed as the unit’s education officer. Later, he was transferred to Ayalon Prison (Ramle), where he was in charge of the manufacturing plants. In 1972, Roni was sent to serve in the Eshel Prison (Be’er Sheva) as a division commander. His appointment to this position took place against the background of the constant unrest that prevailed at the time, and the IPS’s intention was to arrange new procedures for the unit, and Roni Eshel’s job was difficult and tedious, but he performed the best. In 1976. In April 1976, Roni was married to Rachel, and their only daughter, Moran, was born in October 1976. In April 1978, in light of his qualifications and success in the positions he was appointed by the Prisons Service, Roni was appointed to establish the detention center at Ayalon Prison . In September of that year, after setting up the new unit and being able to operate, he was appointed director. On 17 Kislev, December 13, 1981, the deputy Roni was murdered by one of the prisoners in “Ayalon” S. He was then the commander of the detention center and the prison’s sorting center, and was known as a dedicated and tough fighter to eradicate the drug abuse among prisoners. He was murdered near his home in the Ganei Rishon neighborhood of Rishon Letzion. Ronny fell in the line of duty. He was thirty-four years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul in Tel Aviv, in the military section. Survived by wife and daughter, parents and brother.
