Neumann, Kalman
Kalman, Ben Yonina, and Shmuel was born on 16.5.1953 in Bilbao, Poland, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1957. The family settled in Kibbutz Shefayim, Kalman was drafted into the IDF in early 1972 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After basic training, he was trained as a tank crew member and sent to serve in the 7th Armored Brigade. He participated in the training and operational activities of his unit and was a disciplined soldier who fulfilled his duties with precision and will. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Kalman was in a tank commanders’ course held at the Armored Corps School. He and his comrades joined the fighting forces in the Sinai and participated in the battles of containment and infiltration against the Egyptians. In the battle for the conquest of the city of Kantara on October 7, 1973, Kalman was killed and killed. His body was found only five months later. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery at Kibbutz Shefayim. Survived by his parents, brother and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal.
