Neiman, Monique-Moshe (Mishka)
Monique-Moshe (Mishka), son of Luba and Akiva, was born on September 24, 1941 in Russia and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1957. He completed his studies in an elementary school in Wroclaw, Poland. During World War II, he lived in Siberia and grew up in a very difficult life, without adequate nutrition and cold, and in 1943 his family wandered to Gorky and two years later moved to Poland, where he was circumcised when he was six years old, by a Polish teacher who studied Torah in the “cheder.” From his childhood, Mishka was full of life and was not afraid of anyone, he knew how to defend himself and bring back to those who ridiculed him for his Jewishness. After working as a mechanic in a garage in Tel Aviv, and then began to work as a driver. At the beginning of May 1960, he was assigned to the General Staff. After completing basic training, he served as a driver in the Central Command and later in the General Staff, and was assigned to reserve duty in the Corps of Engineers, after which he was transferred to the Supply Corps and served in a transport company as a truck driver. During the War of Attrition in March 1969, Monique was caught in his private truck to bomb the Egyptians in the Sinai, when a shell hit his truck and he managed to jump out of it and was miraculously saved, as the truck was burned down. The Liberation In 1962, Monique married and began to work as an independent driver He worked as a driver in the “Cargo” company in Tel Aviv and later at “Titanic” in Tel Aviv, and recently worked for “Shalav.” When the Yom Kippur War broke out, On 29 October 1973, after the cease-fire came into effect, on the way back from fulfilling a transport mission in the West Bank of the Suez Canal, Monique was hit by a landmine explosion in the Bitter Lake and was killed. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left behind a wife, a daughter and two sons, a mother, three brothers and a sister.
