Nathanson, Isaac (Izu)


Son of Rosa and Hersh was born on 25.12.1953 in the city of Iasi, Romania, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1964. Was drafted into the IDF in early May 1971 and volunteered for the Golani Brigade. During his service, he joined the brigade’s reconnaissance unit and fought in the Yom Kippur War. His service was impeccable. In mid-May 1974, Yitzhak was discharged from regular service and began working as a locksmith in the military industry. In February 1976 he married Odette and the couple had two sons. Yitzhak was a model husband and devoted father, who took care of all the family’s needs. His many friends remember him for the smile he had on his face and the help he was willing to offer to anyone in need, even before he asked for it. In the course of the reserve service, a course for half-track drivers and a driver was called for his last reserve duty, and on the 9th of Kislev 5709 (June 9, 1980), Yitzhak fell in the line of duty and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Parents and three sisters.
