Naim, Mazal


Mazal, daughter of Tina and Reuven, was born in Netanya on August 8, 1954. She completed her elementary studies at the “Yavneh” school in Netanya and then decided to study a profession and chose literature. Mazal was drafted into the IDF in early October 1972 and assigned to the Signal Corps. After completing basic training, she was sent to the course and at the end of her service she was qualified as a liaison clerk. After the course she was assigned to a liaison unit in Sinai and filled her duties there faithfully as part of her profession. She spent the entire period of her service in Sinai. She was a good soldier, diligent and devoted to her job. Her responsibility and integrity were a good thing in the unit, and her commanders trusted her, knowing that any role they would play would be accomplished perfectly. She was loved by all her friends and friends in the unit and accepted by her commanders for her friendly attitude toward everyone, her cheerfulness and her joy of life. On the 27th of Shevat 5734 (May 6, 1974) Mazal fell in the line of duty. She was brought to rest in the cemetery in Netanya. Survived by her parents, two brothers and five sisters. After her death she was awarded the rank of sergeant. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, her commanding officer wrote: “The commnders of the unit, its soldiers silently and reverently bear the memory of your dear one, and she served us with mazal, and during the period of calm and war we loved her. Mazal was efficient and disciplined in her work, orderly and clean in all her ways, and she always performed her duties faithfully and thoroughly, in the best possible way, with you in mourning, proudly bearing the memory of your dear daughter. “
