Mosheid, Yossi (Yosef)
Ben Zippora and me. He was born on the 17th of Elul 5736 (17.9.1976) in Ashkelon. A brother to Michael and Guy. He grew up in Ashkelon. Yossi’s childhood was happy and joyful. He spent many hours at home with his twin brother Michael, both of whom were always surrounded by friends. He was also very attached to Guy, his younger brother-nurturing and supporting him all the way, and of course admiring him. Yossi began his studies at the Ilanot Elementary School in Ashkelon and continues at the ORT Rinson School. At first he studied computerization and control and later moved on to the geographic trend. He was known for his great potential for learning, his wisdom, and his natural intelligence, but chose not to take advantage of his data; Yossi was very active and diligent and preferred to work and earn money on his own than to devote time to studies. His teachers and friends were angry that he did not invest in studies and did not aspire to excellence, but Yossi had his own way of life. His courage and confidence were expressed in various areas of his life. He had self-respect and self-pride, and these qualities stood out wherever he was. Being stubborn, very direct and independent, he could not stop or limit him. Yossi was a spontaneous person who lived from day to day and did not plan the future, loved the freedom and the sense of freedom and could not be bound to any kind of framework. Yossi had a strong attraction to the world of vehicles, which symbolized for him the absolute freedom. He liked to drive and did a lot of doing it, was interested in cars, motorcycles and cars of all kinds, and was a very talented and skilled driver. With the exception of driving passion, he loved to take care of his vehicles and repair them, and acquired expertise in mechanics, especially motorcycles. Yossi was a handsome guy with a developed sense of aesthetics. He liked to dress well and made sure to look his best. Although he was shy, quiet and introverted, he liked to “unwind” and enjoy life. He was very generous, both financially and in other respects, and loved helping and helping friends and others. On July 30, 1995, Yossi enlisted in the IDF and was assigned to the Logistics Division, where he served in the Gaza Division as a maintenance NCO, but after a few months he received a temporary annexation order to the “Vacation” unit in Ashkelon. At the request of his commander and on his own request, he remained in the unit on a regular basis, initially serving as a maintenance NCO, but soon acquired the trust of the commander of the facility and was also in charge of security. Thus he became the commander’s right hand. Yossi proved himself to be a diligent and invested soldier with great resourcefulness and a desire to help. As a sociable person, he established warm ties with his fellow military personnel, both with civilian employees and volunteers, and with commanders and management. Even the vacationers from the various units, who changed every week, became friends. Yossi spent two years in the vacation unit until the day his life was cut short. Yossi was killed while performing his duty on Monday, December 1, 1997, as he was making his way to the food base in Tzrifin, as was his custom every Monday, when a serious car accident occurred and Yossi was killed. In the military cemetery in Ashkelon, he left two parents and two brothers, and was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant.
