He was cheerful and loving life, with self-respect and meticulousness about his clothes and appearance. He was very attached to his family, and especially to his older sister, and shared his experiences with her. He had a gentle and sensitive soul, who was in a strong, athletic body, and wrote poems.
Eliahu was drafted into the IDF in August 1972 and assigned to the Armored Corps, where he volunteered to serve in a reconnaissance unit and successfully completed a course for reconnaissance officers and a tank driver course. In his unit he was an outstanding soldier who always knew how to overcome himself in good spirits, in excellent physical shape, and in professional knowledge, about the hard training of the Sayeret. Eli traveled throughout the country as part of his military service and was in love with the landscapes of the Land of Israel. Eli excelled in all kinds of training and fire exercises. In the Yom Kippur War, Eli fought in the battles of the containment of the Armored Corps, and his armored personnel carrier evacuated wounded soldiers from the battlefield and took part in an IDF assault on the village of Bukata in the counter-attack, and was killed on 13 Tishrei 5734 (9 October 1973). He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents, brother and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant.
