Mizrahi, Shahar

Son of Dalia and Moshe. He was born on August 23, 1975, in Jerusalem, to a family of three. Shahar studied at the Talpiot East School in Jerusalem. At the age of eleven he moved with his family to Kfar Rimonim. In high school, he studied at Rene Kasan in Jerusalem and at ORT in Beit El. His childhood friends remember the smile that did not leave his lips, the joy of life and his kindness, sensitivity and modesty. He was an athlete, well played soccer and excelled in swimming. In January 1994, Shachar joined the Golani Brigade, and showed great seriousness and motivation. Five months later he fell ill, was hospitalized and underwent surgery. When he left the hospital, he returned to serve, but did not fully recover, was forced to undergo additional treatments, and after a year was released from service. Shahar insisted on returning to the IDF as a volunteer, and was assigned to the Ordnance Corps and served in a car workshop in Beit El, where he was still suffering from pain, undergoing treatments, but continued to serve as much as he could. He left behind his parents, sister Idit and brother Amit, and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, and his aunt, Etti, wrote after his death: “I see your image next to me / and your face laughs. Molly, a charming smile, humor and grace, that’s how they all saw you. / Your short life knew a great deal of suffering, even though no one knew / without complaints, with dignity, giving warmth to your loving family “
