Mishali, Yitzhak (Ike)

Son of Rachel and David, immigrants from North Africa, members of the Third Aliyah. Born on May 22, 1927 in Haifa, he studied at the “Netzach Yisrael” Talmud Torah school and continued his professional studies at the vocational school of the Technion, where he worked in the Royal Navy workshop as a mechanic Two years before joining the IDF, was employed at the Ein Harod metalwork shop. Where he was greatly appreciated for his devotion to work and his precision in carrying it out. The kibbutz secretary wanted to bind him to the place of work and prevent his enlistment, but Yitzhak insisted and decided to join the army. He took part in activities in Safed and Ein Gev, and fought to break through the Negev. Yitzhak was gifted with the talents he discovered in his work and in all the roles he was assigned. He was full of life, cheerful and kind. In his good mood he always elevated the mood of his comrades in the battalion in moments of depression and at parties in which he appeared as an entertainer. On the 19th of Tishrei, 5709 (October 19, 1948), in the course of progress, a grenade exploded in the stomach. Yitzhak managed to crawl with his last remaining strength to the nearest position near Crete, and died on the way to the hospital. He was buried in the village of Warburg. On the 5th of Tammuz 5707 (5.7.1955), he was put to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa.
