Milis, Yitzhak


Yitzhak, son of Rina and Jacob, was born on 25 February 1953 in Tirat Hacarmel. Yitzhak was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-May 1971 and assigned to the Armored Corps, and after serving as a lieutenant in the Armored Corps battalion that served near the Suez Canal. Yitzhak was promoted to the rank of corporal and transferred to another battalion, also near the Suez Canal, and Yitzhak participated in the last march of Independence Day in Jerusalem when the Yom Kippur War broke out. With his unit in the Sinai, on the 11th of Tishrei 5734 (7.10.1973), in a battle for the stronghold of the “pier” came out in the only tank installed from the stronghold, In destroying Egyptian tank shelled the stronghold. The tank hit an anti-tank fire and Yitzhak jumped off, and he was hit in the back and killed. As part of the peace treaty with the Egyptians, his body was allowed to be returned from the “dock” post and on September 11, 1979, he was brought to eternal rest in the Haifa cemetery. He left behind his parents and two sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. His battalion published a book called “The Way of Fire – The Battalion in the Yom Kippur War”. The book includes remarks about him.
