Son of Edde and David. He was born on June 23, 1951, in Warsaw, Poland, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1957. He studied at the Habonim elementary school in Ramat Remez and at the Ganeh-Sha’anan high school. Even during childhood he became interested in science – especially in space exploration and biology. He had a telescope that looked through it for hours. He had many science books and he liked experimenting with biology, and used his microscope very much. He was a talented musician and studied for five years playing clarinet at the conservatory and even gave concerts. He had a large collection of classical music records. And he was interested in fine art in all its fields. He also devoted a great deal of time to swimming and judo. Artur was also an amateur photographer who devoted many hours to this hobby. He was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair movement and for several years also served as a member of the student council of high schools in Haifa. Artur was drafted into the IDF at the end of July 1969 and assigned to the Medical Corps. During the War of Attrition he served in the Nahal Tzofar settlement and later in the Golan Heights, in the Gesher Junction, where he prepared to study at the Technion or the Faculty of Biology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, On 26.5.1972, about a month and a half before the end of his service, Artur fell to duty in the Haifa military cemetery, and the commander of the unit wrote a letter of condolence to his parents in which he noted him as a disciplined, dedicated and loyal soldier.
