Menashe, Eliezer (“Eli”)

Menashe, Eliezer (“Eli”)

Son of Nissim and Sophie. He was born on 17.1.1957 in Moshav Galia. He studied at the Geulim Elementary School in Ashdod and at the ORT vocational high school in Rehovot. He spent his first six years in the moshav. It was a Simcha childhood of village life-a warm house, trees and flowers and games with the domestic animals in the courtyard. Before the start of first grade, the family moved to Ashdod. Despite the turning point in his life-the transition from the village to the city-Eli adapted to the new society and absorbed it. He was talented at school and especially liked to read. Reading books was his favorite pastime, and it was not for nothing that his encyclopedia teacher called him. As a result of illness, which confined him to his bed, he adopted a new hobby – assembling airplanes and ships. Then his “golden hands” were discovered, and it was clear to all that Eli would continue his studies in a vocational school. After Bar Mitzvah, the family returned to the moshav, and once again the natural landscape, the courtyard and the beloved pets were opened to him. “No more concrete blocks,” Eli says. Despite his long absence, he was separated from his friends as if he did not have his place among them immediately. As planned, he began to study at the Ort School of Electronics and discovered a new hobby – motorcycles; And all of them – of all kinds and sizes – were renovating, dismantling, assembling and changing tirelessly and with astonishing care. Yes, he was active in the Moshav Movement, was a member of the Israel Aviation Club in the Ashdod branch, and also in the Shooting Club in Rehovot. In May 1975, he was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces and assigned to the Signal Corps, where he completed a communications course in which he distinguished himself with his talents in electronics, and was sent to a basic officers’ training course. Bader B (March 21, 1978) fell to me during his service. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in son of Zakkai. Survived by his parents and two sisters.
