Meir, Lior
Daughter of Tamar and Binyamin. Was born on September 10, 1982 in Afula, the sister of my father, Vered and Nitzan. Lior grew up in Moshav Meitav near Afula. She began her studies at the Yad Lachamisha Elementary School, the regional school for the Ta’anach communities, and stood out as a talented and diligent student. Lior continued her junior high and high school studies at Nir HaEmek in Afula. She arrived at high school with apprehensions, but soon she acclimated to her teachers and friends. During her years she helped the school secretary very much and had friendly relations with the educational counselor. Lior graduated high school with great success. Lior grew up and became a young woman full of joy, whose smile never left her face. She loved to spend time with her many friends, to shop and take advantage of all the pleasure life gave her. Lior was a sensitive and empathetic girl, loved to help others and showed special attention to the elderly and the children. For many hours she devoted herself to reading books, which she enjoyed very much. After completing her high school studies, Lior worked in a kindergarten in the community community of Gan Ner, waiting for her enlistment in the IDF, and she loved the children very much and invested all her energies in the work, and the children gave her back a lot of love. And they parted from her in blessings and in many gifts, which made it clear how appreciated she was during her brief period of work. She was assigned to the Communications Corps, underwent a technical clerical course and was stationed at the Karni checkpoint and then at Nisanit in the south, near Gaza. At the beginning of the service, Lior was disappointed with the group because she aspired to serve in Golani, but soon fell in love with her work and integrated into the base where she served. “Lior was professional, devoted, with abilities and a high personal level … Although she was new to the unit, she swept most of the soldiers behind her and caught up with them cheerfully … even in the difficult days we are in, days of fighting She never said ‘No’ to Lior. She was always the first to volunteer for any mission, even at the expense of her spare time. “On August 28, 2001, Lior fell in her job in a traffic accident at Saad Junction. She was nineteen years old. After her death, she was promoted to corporal, and Lior was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Afula, where she left behind her parents, two sisters and a brother, and told Lior Oora, her high school teacher: “To eulogize is hard work. Lior, your name was given to you by your beloved parents. , Tamar and Benny, shocked you in your life and death. We will search for your smile for many years to come. “
