Mashiach, Jacob


Son of Shabtai and Leah. He was born on the 20th of Kislev 5708 (20.1.11947) in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, and when he was a year old, the whole family immigrated to Israel with him. He was a member of the “Nature Guard” and was a proponent of nature and archeology, and during his spare time he was interested in collecting archeology, and because he was close to the birds he worked in his pylons, In November 1965 he was drafted into the IDF. He wanted to volunteer for the paratroopers like the others. But the doctor objected and he was transferred to the Armored Corps. After undergoing hard training, he decided that he wanted to study because he had enlisted prematurely and lost a year of his studies. He then asked his mother to provide him with the various documents, according to which it would be possible to prove that at the beginning of his service he could have been discharged from the army. But he remained faithful to the service of the IDF as a boy who loved his homeland and was preparing for his matriculation exams in his free time, he was faithful to the work and no complaints were heard from him at the time. Was found near the Syrian-Lebanese border, during which time he fell to the Syrians and was subjected to harsh tests and Syrian captivity died on October 8, 1966. His body was returned to Israel by the Red Cross on 10 Tammuz 5722 (18.7.1967) and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
