Was born on December 9, 1956 in Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak, where Alon was 5 years old and his family moved to Kiryat Ono, where he studied at the Nir School in the Kirya and continued to study at the comprehensive school in Yehud, Electricity When the family moved to Raanana, Alon was accepted to the Ort vocational school in Kfar Saba, where he completed his matriculation studies, and during his years in Kfar Saba, he joined the Nahal Brigade of Hashomer Hatzair. Alon was drafted into the IDF in mid-September 1974 and underwent basic training in the Nahal Brigade. Due to his personal data, he was accepted to an aviation course but did not finish. Alon returned to serve in the Nahal Brigade and was stationed in a parachute Nahal unit. Alon underwent a parachuting course, a course for APC drivers and a motorized operator course. In his discharge certificate, his behavior was described as “good,” and his commanders’ assessment was that he was “a disciplined, enterprising soldier. In mid-November 1977, Alon was released from regular service and joined together with his friends in the nucleus to Kibbutz Gaaton in the Galilee. After deciding to continue his studies, Alon left the kibbutz and was accepted to study at the Department of Philosophy at Tel Aviv University. “All his teachers, and I am sure that his fellow students were very impressed with these talents and his warm personality,” wrote Prof. Son of-Ami Scharfstein, head of the department for Alon’s family. Alon found his livelihood in electrical work, specializing in the construction of rectangular fireplaces in private homes. In reserve service he was attached to a reconnaissance company in the Armored Corps. After two years of studies at Tel Aviv University, Alon moved to Jerusalem to study at the University of Jerusalem. During the course of his studies, the Peace for Galilee War broke out, and Alon was called to reserve duty. After several soldiers in his unit were killed or were missing, he returned with a heavy Lev to his studies and found it difficult to return to normal routine. Nevertheless, Alon left a strong impression on his teachers and friends. Marcel Dubois, the head of the philosophy department at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, wrote to the parents: “Many teachers and students remember him as a particularly talented person, with a gentle and quiet presence, the presence of a friend full of good will.” In December 1982, Alon was called to reserve duty in Lebanon. On Monday, December 23, 1982, Alon was killed by an explosive device that was detonated in the Ein Hilweh refugee camp near Sidon, where he was buried at the military cemetery in Ra’anana. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “Alon served in the company for a long time until his death. During this period, we met him as a dedicated and loyal soldier who fulfilled his obligation to the State without any flaw.
