Maranin (Marchevsky), Pinchas (Pinka)


Pinchas (Pinka), son of Laura (Lucy) and Abraham-Jacob, was born on April 9, 1950 in Mendoza, Argentina, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1951. During his military service, his tent was a source of attraction for everyone, because of the loud laughter that always emanated from him and because of the tricks and tricks he and his friends did. “He had a wonderful memory and a talent for describing and describing acts and situations in detail, with great humor and grace. He volunteered to serve in the Armored Corps, and after completing his basic training, he took a course in the “Centurion” tank course and in a course in military operations. After a while he completed an officer’s course and an armored officer course, and was appointed commander of the tank division. He loved the armored corps and cared for his soldiers with great dedication. Everyone liked him very much because of his honesty and fair treatment, and because he acted impartially and without any sense of superiority. His commanders said that he was “an intelligent, responsible, dedicated, efficient, punctual and capable officer.” After he was discharged from regular service, he worked in various trades and was proud to stand on his own feet. He completed a course for basketball coaches at the Wingate Institute and finished with great success. In 1971 he began working at the “Gur” company, and soon became the manager of the Haifa and Northern branch of the company, and later took part in it. He was preparing to study business administration to deepen his knowledge of branch management. In 1971 he married Idit, his girlfriend from school. His son, Liran, fell ill and died at the age of one year. Pinchas was a very loyal son to his parents, a devoted husband and a loving father. During the Yom Kippur War, Pinchas participated in the battle against the Syrians in the Golan Heights. On the 7th of Tishrei 5740 (October 7, 1973), at the same time that his brother, Yair, was injured, Pinchas fell in battle.In the quarry near the village of Naqach his tank was hit and he was wounded He died after a few hours, and was brought to rest at his brother’s grave in the Kiryat Tivon cemetery, leaving behind a wife, father, mother and sister, and his daughter Shahar was born a month after he fell. He was promoted to the rank of Captain, and his family published a memorial booklet in memory of him and his brother, Yair.
