His beloved horse, whose story touched the heart of then-Knesset Member Yaakov Shamai, who bought another horse for him and Haim was not happy with his joy, and before he was drafted Haim worked in a garage in Ashdod, where he demonstrated his developed technical sense and skills as a car mechanic. He volunteered to serve near the house, but the helicopter disaster that killed 73 soldiers on their way to operational activity in Lebanon left a deep impression on him, and he decided to volunteer for the paratroopers. In practice and on the arduous journeys, Haim used to help his friends and always made sure to push them forward. His captivating personality, his constant laughter, his special joie de vivre and his desire to enjoy all his actions captured the hearts of his friends and officers who loved him very much. A special relationship developed between Haim and his commander Meir, who described him as a “flower.” Haim dreamed of traveling in Thailand and studying computers after his military service. Dreams he did not achieve. Two months before his release, on March 26, 2000, Chaim was killed in a road accident while riding on a motorcycle on the moshav where he grew up, and was brought to rest in the Givati cemetery. He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant after his death.
