Malal, Shmuel


Son of Elders to his parents Shlomo and Esther. He was born on August 13, 1941 in Jerusalem. Fourth generation in Israel. He studied at an elementary school of “Alliance” and graduated from Tachkemoni. He was a diligent boy, diligent, awake and ready for any social action. Afterward, he studied at the Brandeis High School, where his passion for work and his sense of manual work led him to this school and he was always enthusiastic about his professional studies. He specialized in fine mechanics and worked at the Ministry of Defense in Haifa. He belonged to the Society for the Protection of Nature. In November 1960 he was drafted into the IDF and served in the Israel Air Force, and after a short training period he was appointed as a team leader in an aircraft repair shop and later went on to reserve duty and served as a liaison in the Artillery Corps. He was very close to the house and cared for the safety and well-being of the parents, and was also involved in the Six-Day War, and his brother-in-law wrote that after he was among the fighters of Jerusalem and the liberation of the Old City he was driven north to win the Syrian level and release it, (9.6.1967), he fell in battle held on the plateau. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. “As a brave warrior prepared for any role, courageous and proud as a friend and friend willing to help his friend during battle, as a staff member in the full meaning of this concept,” as his friend wrote in his condolence letter to his family. He ends his letter in this paragraph: “Only deep roots in the soil and love for the homeland emphasize in the moments of battle the man, the warrior, and as such I have the privilege of knowing your son Samuel.”
