Magid, Shimon


Shimon, son of Sarah (Peli) and Gershon, was born in Hadera in February 1945. was drafted into the IDF in the middle of August 1972 and was assigned to the Armored Corps . In the end, he was sent to the tank commanders course and was a disciplined and dedicated soldier, loved by his commanders and members of the unit, because of his convenient nature and his strict adherence to all the duties imposed on him, Shimon was very attached to his family, and during his army vacations, he hurried to his home and spent time with his family and his schoolmates in his city of Hadera, and during the Yom Kippur War Shimon was commander of the Patton tank on the Sinai front. And went south to help stop the Egyptians, who crossed the canal Ten days later, Shimon fought in his tank and excelled in the role of an artillery officer, destroying and wounding many Egyptian tanks, in an armor battle that took place near the Chinese Farm on October 18, 1973. Shimon was hit and killed. In his letter of condolences to the bereaved family, his commander wrote that Shimon was a good-hearted, serious and responsible fellow, and that he had fulfilled his duty with devotion, With the aim.
