Machlouf, Joseph


Yosef ben Issachar and Massa. He was born on the 28th of Iyar, May 5, 1959, in Binyamina. Yosef was the sixth child in the family, who immigrated in 1951 from Tripoli, followed by six other children – seven boys and five girls. Yosef was very fond of the Bible and the Oral Torah. Yosef underwent a pre-military course and at the end of October 1977 he was drafted and assigned to the Armored Corps. After basic basic training he underwent a professional course in the IAF and began to serve as a heavy-duty driver. He was a dedicated soldier, who tried to instill motivation among his friends. As part of his professional work, Yosef was sent to a military exercise in the Golan Heights, and he fell in the line of duty on the 26th of Elul, September 28th, 1978. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Binyamina. He was a devoted son caring for his parents and his family. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Yossi was a dedicated and honest soldier”
