Luka, Joseph (Yossi)
Yosef (Yossi), son of Aliza and Tzadok, was born on December 14, 1948 in Tel Aviv. was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1966 and assigned to the infantry. After basic training, he was assigned to the Golani Brigade. After completing his commanding course, he was returned to his battalion as a rifle commander, and after successfully passing officer tests, he was sent to officers’ course, but Did not finish, and was assigned to the brigade’s training base. After a while he was returned to his battalion and participated in the War of Attrition. His discharge certificate was marked as “an outstanding soldier with initiative and responsibility in his role.” After completing his regular service, he was assigned to the Armored Corps and was assigned the position of noncommissioned sergeant. After his discharge, he worked as a technician in the communications center at the Ministry of Communications, where he sought to establish his future. In September 1972 he married a wife and the couple lived happily one year. About six months before the Yom Kippur War, Yossi was appointed as a squadron commander in a reconnaissance battalion, and when the war broke out, Yossi reported to his unit and participated in the battles in Sinai and in the breakout and breakout across the Suez Canal. In the battle to establish a bridgehead in the central sector of the Suez Canal, near the Chinese Farm. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by a wife, mother and two brothers. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
