Lugasi, Moshe


Moshe, son of Miriam and Eliezer, was born on june 1st, 1954. He completed eight years of schooling at the Karmeli Elementary School in Haifa, and later moved to the Ironi Aleph High School in Haifa, He studied for one year, completed a clerical course and began to work for a year, working for the Lim Company in Haifa as a clerk, working at the University of Haifa and working as a motorist, his parents suffered from rheumatoid diseases and needed help and supervision. he asked to undergo a pre-military driver’s course, in the hope that after enlistment he would be placed in a back unit, close to home, so that he could feed his parents when necessary. Moshe was a good boy and loved by his family and all his friends. He was naturally shy, but he was kind to people and never bad to anyone. Moshe was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-February 1973 and assigned to the Armored Corps, where he served as a jeep driver for the Armored Corps company. His friends and commanders loved him for his good character, his willingness to help others, and his friendly attitude to every man in the company. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, his unit was in the Rifidim area in the Sinai. On Monday, 8 October 1973, in the morning, the enemy planes bombed the Rafidim area, and in this bombing Moshe was hit and killed. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Haifa cemetery. Survived by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. After being shot down, he was given the rank of corporal. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Moshe fell in battle in the line of duty, and Moshe served in an armored unit. His family commemorated him by donating holy articles to the synagogue.
