Lubia (Hillel), Yosef (Yossi)

Yosef (Yossi), son of Sarah and Shalom, was born on 22 December 1940 in Sanaa, in Yemen, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1943. Yosef was recruited to the IDF in early August 1959 and volunteered to serve in the naval commando unit, where he was trained as a diver, underwent training in the naval commando unit and completed a parachuting course, and a year later he decided to move from the Navy to an elite unit. After completing his regular service, Yossi worked for three months in oil drilling and then went to work at Solel Boneh as a drilling machine operator and later decided to devote himself to the construction of independent drilling machines. In the summer of 1962 he went on a trip to Europe, and in 1963 he married Ilana Chumash And the couple moved to Netanya together with his adoptive father, with whom he had a deep friendship, loved his family and traveled with his wife and children on picnics in the countryside. He devoted much of his time to educating his children, and he cultivated the yard and the garden next to his home, and in 1970 Yossi founded the “Kodahi Hasharon Ltd.” partnership, succeeded in his work and was Simcha there. His clients admired him and asked that only he work with them. The business expanded and workers and equipment were added. Yossi tried to repair the equipment himself, and for this he took a course in welding. Three months before the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War, Yossi was trained as a half-track driver in the framework of his reserve service, and when the war broke out, he hurried to his unit and was sent to the Golan Heights, where he took part in the battles of containment and infiltration into Syrian territory. On October 12, 1973, a shell hit Yossi Hawa’s half-track, which was hit and killed. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Netanya. He left behind a wife, a son and two daughters (a third daughter, who was born after he fell, was named after him “Avital-Yosefa”) and father. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
