Son of Esther and Abraham was born on January 25, 1928 in Jerusalem, where he moved to Tel Mond, where he studied for three years and moved to his mother’s home in the Shapira neighborhood of Tel Aviv. Who was the eldest in the family, felt responsible for the rest of the children, and worked as a scribe in the building, contributing his main part to supporting the family. He was a good machine gunner, specialized in the operation of a “Fiat” (a weapon against armored vehicles and tanks) and an expert sabotaging three months in the army, served in the Givati Brigade and participated in many operations. He returned with a smile, saying, “I am no more precious than others,” and since then he has not been seen again, and his unit was held on Hill 69 east of the coastal road to block the Egyptians’ movement. On June 3, 1948, the Egyptians landed heavy shelling on the outpost, and then infantry forces attacked it with the aid of armored vehicles. The enemy fire caused the casualties, the collapse of the positions and the damage to the weapons. Under pressure from the enemy, the force retreated from the outpost, and in retaliation in the open area, additional fighters were injured. For a full year, Yaakov was considered a missing person until it became clear that he had fallen in battle on Hill 69 on Tuesday, June 10, 1948.
