London, Jacob


Yaakov, son of Chana and Shmuel, was born on 17.12.1940 in Ramat Gan. Yaakov was drafted into the IDF at the end of November 1958 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, and after completing his tank training course, he became one of the first to operate the Centurion tanks, and was discharged from the regular army. He studied at Tel Aviv University in the Faculty of Microbiology, where he established a home and married his girlfriend Farahia, and after graduating from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, he moved to the Rogov Institute in Beilinson Hospital to study for a master’s degree. Chaya Klibansky and Prof. A. de Vries, on the topic “The operation of amino-basic amino acids Ttiot on the membrane of red blood cells and white. ” In 1969 he received a scholarship from the Dutch government and traveled with his wife and two daughters to study at the University of Utrecht for a doctorate. There, too, he excelled in his studies and publications in the field of research. In May 1973 he was awarded the title of Doctor, and despite the fact that many job offers were offered to him, he decided to return to Israel to his real home. As soon as he returned, he began working at the Weizmann Institute in the Department of Immunology with Prof. Sela and was immediately recognized and respected by his co-workers. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Yaakov tried to contact his unit, but it turned out that because of studies abroad he was transferred to a temporary transit unit. He was, therefore, joined to the “Nati Force” and sent to fight in the Golan Heights. He fought fiercely and fiercely until he was hit and killed on the 16th of Tishrei 5734 (October 12, 1973). He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left behind a wife and two daughters, a mother and two sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
