Livni (Weitz), Dan


Son of Carroll and Ilona (Caroline). He was born on 13.3.1930 in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. He finished fifth grade in a high school in his hometown. His father perished in Auschwitz during World War II. Under the influence of his aunt (sister-in-law), a clerk of the Zionist Organization in Hungary, who did much to save lives during the Nazi period, Dan immigrated to Israel (in 1948); This was after a difficult struggle with his mother, who despite being a Zionist asked him to wait until they could go up together. He joined the ranks of the Palmach and participated in various battles during the War of Independence, was a member of the Giv’at Oz farm, and in May 1950 he was drafted into the IDF. On the tenth of Tevet 5711 (19.12.1950) he fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Mashko, where he left a wife and the mother was not brought to the attention of the mother because of her illness. For six years this “correspondence” lasted until October 1956, when the letter was not received, so the mother decided to immigrate to Israel, And her sister was forced to tell her the story of the death of her only son, and as a result of this knowledge she fell ill and for a few months she was in a weakened hospital Nerves.
