Levin, Michael


Born and educated in the city of Pinsk, Poland, he was born in Pinsk, Poland, on October 24, 2222. He received a Zionist education from his parents’ home, where he studied at the Tarbut school in his hometown, which was known as a very Zionist city. He was very active in various circles and was very fond of his friends and teachers who appreciated his good qualities and chose him almost always to be a member of the students’ committee Michael joined the Hashomer Hatzair movement and was active Michael’s parents decided to immigrate to Israel, but Michael had to hurry Michael grew up in the “Youth Aliya” organization and joined the educational institution at Kibbutz Mishmar HaEmek, where he wrote to his parents in the Diaspora and in his letters, how he acclimated to his new homeland and how he loved the country and its people. The family began preparations for the Aliyah, but the preparations were abruptly interrupted by the German invasion of Russia, where Michael and his brother were exiled to Siberia and his father was killed by the Germans in his town during one of the first “Aktionen.” Michael joined his friends in Kibbutz Beit Zera in the Jordan Valley. He was one of the members of the Hagana and was appointed as a guide. He traveled extensively around the country with his students and taught them on various subjects. In the kibbutz he became very fond of the members and was appointed responsible for the “livestock”. After a while Michael left the kibbutz. Married his girlfriend Irena, who was a Holocaust survivor, and the couple moved to Ramat Gan. Here too he continued to be active in the Hagana operations; After completing a hard day’s work as a gardener, he would go out to work in the dangerous areas of Tel Aviv: Salameh and Sheik-Munis. On May 18, 1948, as he was making his way to the recruitment office in Tel Aviv, he was killed at the Tel Aviv Central Bus Station when he bombed Egyptian planes, and Michael was laid to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery. About two months after his death, his daughter Michal was born.
