Levin, Israel (Kushi)


Israel, son of Miriam and Louis Levin, was born on March 31, 1929 in the city of Breslau, Germany. His mother died at birth and his father married a second wife. Israel immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1938 and completed elementary school in Kiryat Haim. On 27 March 1948 In the afternoon, a convoy of seven vehicles and 90 people left Nahariya to deliver supplies, fortifications and reinforcements to Yiham. An ambush was set by Arabs. Some convey members succeeded to escape, but half of them died in battle, Israel among them. His remains were laid to rest in the military cemetery in Nahariya.
