Lev, Ze’ev (“Zevik”)

Lev, Ze’ev (“Zevik”)

Son of Yerachmiel and Chaya. He was born on September 23, 1946, in Moshav Balfouria. His childhood was spent in the moshav and later in Kiryat Haim and in the village of Monash. He spent the days of the War of Independence in a shelter in Balfuria, and then for the family to Kiryat Haim, Ze’ev moved to another landscape – to the pleasant and attractive sea. Eight years later, the family moved to the village of Monash, where he grew up. He began his elementary studies at the AD Gordon School in Kiryat Haim and completed his studies at the Kfar Haim school, where he continued his high school studies at the Emek Hefer High School and was active in youth movements wherever he lived. He studied and played the trumpet and was a member of the Gadna-Air branch of the Netanya branch. As a close subject to aviation affairs, Ze’ev Electronics learned a great deal of interest in the operation of technical devices, in repairing all kinds of malfunctions in tools and instruments at home and in the agriculture. He was drafted into the IDF in May 1964 and assigned to the Armored Corps. His life, before his service and after his release, were intensive, full and vibrant. He loved social life and was active among his friends in organizing trips, trips, parties and the like. Ze’ev was not tired and took part in every action or journey. He seemed to feel that he was commanded to exhaust every moment of his life. Although he suffered from an acute gastrointestinal disease, he refused to take advantage of his illness and fulfilled his national duty in full. After his release, he would occasionally go on reserve duty. He was called to reserve duty in early May 1969 for a period of one month. This time, too, he did not consider exploiting his illness as the reason for his discharge from military service, and asked to put him in a combat unit. He was sensitive to the suffering and sorrow of others and was always willing to help others. But about three weeks later, on the day of the last call on the flag, on the day of 3 Adar 5729 (February 21, 1969), Ze’ev fell in line with a landmine in Gaza and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Monash village, Wolf”.
