Lerner, Jacob

Jacob, son of Anna and Leonid Lerner, was born on January 1, 1949, in the Soviet Union. In 1974 he immigrated to Israel, acquired the Hebrew language, settled in Israeli society, and in February 1975 enlisted in the IDF. He was sent to a course for medical officers and was promoted to lieutenant. At the beginning of his career, Yaakov served as an epidemiologist and later chose his new path of specialization in psychiatry, where he began his residency in psychiatry at the government hospital in Nes Tziona and at Geha Hospital and began working as a psychiatrist. Later, he was appointed as an Air Force psychiatrist, and about a year later he was appointed commander of the Central Mental Health Clinic at Tel Hashomer, where he advanced from the rank of lieutenant to the rank of lieutenant colonel. On June 15, 1989, Yaakov died of cardiac arrest and was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the Neveh Hadar cemetery in Hod Hasharon. survived by his wife – Lydia, daughter – Natali, mother and brother – Shlomo.
