Lax, Yosef

Yosef was born in 1930 in Hanover, Germany. In 1936 he immigrated to Israel with his parents. Immediately after the outbreak of the War of Independence, he took up full service and joined one of the Palmach battalions in the Harel Brigade. Laxi, as his friends called him, moved with his battalion to Hulda and began to accompany the convoys to Jerusalem. In the battle for Sheikh Jarrah, Yosef fell on the 22nd of Nissan (1.5.1948). Immediately when the assault began, the enemy’s bullet hit his Lev and he was put to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Anavim.
