Lampert, Yehuda

Yehuda, son of Sarah and David Lampert, was born in 1925 in Tel Aviv. When the Etzel underground began its activities against the British, he joined, was one of its dedicated activists and even volunteered to carry out a dangerous operation abroad, but the plan was canceled. He was suspected of belonging to Betar, was arrested and sat for nearly a year in the Latrun camp. After his release, he was charged with house arrest in the evenings, but he was also active in the Irgun, subject to police supervision. After six months he was released from the restrictions. After the death of Lord Moyne in Cairo by the Lehi members, he was arrested for several days among the other suspects. He launched an Irgun attack on Ramle immediately after the declaration of the state and there he fell on the 11th of Iyar (May 20, 1948). He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
