Lachatovsky, Zvi

Son of-Frederica and Moshe, was born on January 20, 1929, in Vienna, the capital of Austria, and immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1935. During his studies at the Balfour High School in Tel Aviv he joined the Haganah and, Graduation stabilized for a year of service in a trained Palmach training and stayed for another year. He overcame his physical weakness and did all he had to do in the farms, which he spent with his group, on trips and training. During his spare time, he often took pictures of landscapes, was very interested in studying weapons and fighting theory, and his ambition was to devote himself to studies after the end of his service. At the outbreak of the War of Independence, he decided to postpone his studies to quieter times, and in the winter of 1948 he went with his group from Degania Bet, where they were trained and worked, to participate in the defense of Dan, Dafna and the surrounding points in the Upper Galilee. Tzvi raised the memory of his fallen comrades at every opportunity, and expressed his willingness to follow them to the end, without enthusiasm and without opposition, but out of the need to defend the homeland. A few went to escort convoys from Dan to Ayelet Hashahar and in one of Nes Her hours the convoy was attacked and he was wounded and died on the fourteenth day of Adar Alef Independence (24/02/1948) and was buried at Ayelet dawn. On Friday, the Declaration of Tishri (21/09/1949) was laid-rest at the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak.
