Kuperman, Amiram

Son of Baruch and Bella. He was born on January 4, 1937 in Haifa. He graduated from Leo Baeck High School. Already in high school he had a tendency to write poems. He was active in social activities and was a counselor and graduate of the Scouts movement and a member of the Maoz Harel group in the tribe of Shomati in the Carmel. Amiram joined the IDF in October 1954, with all his comrades in the Nahal Brigade. After basic training, the nucleus underwent training at Kibbutz Degania Aleph, where Amiram worked in the cowshed. Amiram was one of those who were recruited to Unit 101, with whom he took part in all the reprisals that took place in Israel at that time: the positions of the Syrians, the Qalqiliya police, the raid into Gaza and the war Kadesh At the end of his advanced training, Amiram left with his comrades on the kibbutz in Hatzerim. He settled in the kibbutz and was accepted as a member and integrated into the dairy industry. Amiram studied dairy farming at the Ruppin Academy and dreamed of studying veterinarian medicine in the Netherlands, but his dream was cut short. Amiram fell when he volunteered to replace his best friend in a three-day exercise with live ammunition. On March 11, 1958, he was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa, followed by his parents and brother Yoav, whose memory was included in Uri Milstein’s book “The Paratroop Wars.” After his fall, his poems were collected in a booklet that was published in 1972 .
