Kneishev, Meir-Shlomo (Muki)
Son of Pnina and Shmuel, was born on 22 July 1957 in Netanya. Meir was drafted into the IDF at the end of October 1975 and volunteered for the paratroopers. After basic training, he passed one by one – and in excellent grades – an APC course, parachuting course, infantry training course, and officers’ course – when he came to leave compulsory service, Meir saw service in the IDF as a way of life and continued his career. Among the roles filled by Meir were: the deputy commander of the regimental reconnaissance company and the commander of an auxiliary company in the paratroopers’ battalion. Although he took part in many activities, he did not boast or tell much about war stories. Even during service, his love for animals did not loosen, and he began to raise a monkey. His commanders greatly appreciated the manner in which he fulfilled his role, and did not spare praise in the periodic opinion: “imports and implements original ideas at work;” “A professional officer does his job in the best way possible;” “Very good officer, dedicated, responsible and professional”; “Outstanding Officer”. On August 19, 1980, during an IDF operation to destroy terrorist cells in southern Lebanon, Lieutenant Meir fell in a battle in southern Lebanon and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Netanya. After they fell, he was promoted to captain. Meir left behind his parents.
